During his first term in the Senate, Sen. Allain has worked diligently to learn the specifics of how state government works. Because of his business background and his willingness to always work towards solutions as opposed to playing politics, Bret was appointed to some of the most important committees in the Senate.
The most important assignment is being a member of the Senate Finance Committee. Finance is tasked with approving a balanced state operating budget on an annual basis. All levels of state government are funded through legislative instruments that make their way through the Finance committee during the legislative session. Finance also plays a role in approving the state’s capital outlay program which funds infrastructure improvements around the state.
Sen. Allain is also a member of the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget.
