Health and Welfare

One thing that all Louisianans have experiences with throughout the year is health care. From routine visits to the doctor or hospital stays, and from insurance premiums or enrollment in the state’s Medicaid program, health and wellness always seems to be an issue that’s just around the corner.

The Senate Health and Welfare Committee’s main function is to find ways to improve our state’s health care system. Since his election in 2011, Bret has served on this vital committee that is important to District 21 and the entire state.

Health and Welfare deals with issues such as the improvement of health outcomes, the regulation of pharmaceuticals, Medicaid, the public-private partnerships at Louisiana’s former charity hospitals, and the regulations that govern our health care professionals.
